Importing Passwords

Import from Chrome, Firefox, Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass and 8 more.

Import from 13 sources

Škrinjar can import passwords from 13 different sources: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Bitwarden, 1Password, LastPass, KeePass, Dashlane, NordPass, ProtonPass, Enpass, RoboForm and Geslar backup. Import takes less than a minute.

How to import
  1. Export your passwords from your old password manager or browser (see instructions for each source below).
  2. Open Škrinjar and unlock your vault.
  3. Go to Settings → Import / Export → Import.
  4. Select the source from the dropdown (e.g., "Chrome CSV", "Bitwarden JSON").
  5. Load the file in one of these ways:
    • Drag & drop: Drag the file directly into the upload field (works in all browsers)
    • Ctrl+V paste: Copy the file to your clipboard and press Ctrl+V on the import screen
    • "Upload file": Click the file picker button to select a file (Chrome/Edge)
  6. Škrinjar automatically detects the format and shows a preview of records to be imported.
  7. Click "Import". Records are encrypted and added to your vault.
Bitwarden import automatically detects JSON/CSV format — you don't need to select manually.
Firefox users: If the file picker closes the extension during selection, use drag & drop or Ctrl+V paste instead of clicking the button.

Other sources

Škrinjar also supports import from Dashlane, NordPass, ProtonPass, Enpass and RoboForm. The process is the same: export CSV/JSON from the source, then import in Škrinjar via Settings → Import.

After import
Delete the export file
The CSV/JSON file contains your passwords in plain text. Delete it immediately after import — in Škrinjar, they're encrypted with AES-256-GCM.
Duplicate handling
Škrinjar automatically detects duplicates by URL and username. You can review and skip duplicates during import.
Disable old password manager
After verifying all data imported correctly, disable the browser's built-in password manager to avoid confusion.
