First Steps After Installation

Quick guide — set up in under 10 minutes.

5 things to do right after installation

You've installed Škrinjar and created a master password. Here are the 5 steps to get fully set up in under 10 minutes.

1. Import existing passwords

Don't start from scratch. Import passwords from your browser or old password manager — Škrinjar supports 13 sources.

2. Pin the extension icon
  1. Click the puzzle icon in the browser toolbar (Extensions).
  2. Find Geslar Škrinjar and click the pin icon.
  3. The Škrinjar icon now appears permanently in the toolbar — one click to access your vault.
3. Try autofill

Visit any website where you have a saved login and click the lock icon in the input field, or use Ctrl+Shift+L. Škrinjar will fill in the username and password automatically.

4. Save a new password

Next time you register on a new site, Škrinjar will offer to save the password. Click "Save" in the popup — done.

For existing accounts: use the built-in generator to create strong passwords and replace weak ones.

5. Disable the browser's password manager

To avoid conflicts and double popups, disable the built-in password manager:

Chrome
Settings → Passwords → turn off "Offer to save passwords" and "Auto Sign-in".
Firefox
Settings → Privacy & Security → uncheck "Ask to save logins and passwords".
Edge
Settings → Passwords → turn off "Offer to save passwords".
All set!

You're protected. From now on, Škrinjar will manage your passwords — generate, save, and autofill. You only need to remember your master password.

Recommended: Create a backup after importing all your passwords. It takes 30 seconds and can save you hours of recovery.
