What 1Password does better
Let's be fair — 1Password is a premium product with a large team and 15+ years of development. In some aspects, it's ahead.
Cloud sync
Passwords automatically sync between all devices. No need to manually transfer backups.
Family plan
For $60/yr you can share a vault with 5 family members. Shared vaults make managing shared accounts easier.
Watchtower
Continuously monitors data breaches and alerts you if your accounts are compromised. Automatic, without manual checking.
All-platform support
Desktop (Win, Mac, Linux), mobile (iOS, Android), all browsers including Safari, CLI tool, and web vault.
What Geslar does better
True privacy
Your data never leaves your device. No servers, no accounts, no telemetry. Zero data to hack — because there is none.
Free forever
No subscription, no trial, no "free tier" limitations. All features are available immediately — without a credit card.
Breach resistant
1Password stores your (encrypted) data on their servers. If a breach occurs — attackers have the vaults. Geslar has nothing to lose because there are no servers.
Croatian language
Fully localized interface, passphrase generator with Croatian dictionaries, and GDPR protection under European jurisdiction.
The key question: who do you trust?
1Password uses a Secret Key system — a 128-bit key generated at registration that combines with your master password. This means that even if someone breaks into the servers, without your Secret Key they can't decrypt the vault.

Sounds secure? It is — but it still means your encrypted data sits on someone else's servers. And encryption is only as strong as your master password + Secret Key. If you lose your Secret Key — you've lost access.
With Geslar, the trust question doesn't exist. There is no server you need to trust. Your data is on your device, protected by your master password and AES-256-GCM encryption.

The risk? If you lose your device without a backup — you've lost your data. But that's your responsibility, not someone else's security hole.
How much does 1Password cost over time?
1 year: $36 (~33 EUR)

5 years: $180 (~165 EUR)

10 years: $360 (~330 EUR)

And that's for one person. The family plan ($60/yr) over 10 years comes to $600 (~550 EUR).

With Geslar? 0 EUR — today, tomorrow, and in 10 years.
Conclusion
1Password is a quality product. Cloud sync, family sharing, and Watchtower are legitimate advantages for users who want convenience.

But if privacy matters more to you than comfort, if you don't want to pay a subscription for something that should be a basic right, and if local data management works for you — Geslar gives you everything you need, for free.
